The Book Shelf

30th April to 7th May, 2021

Yes, yes, yes! I have been bad. I haven’t updated this list for the last 3 weeks. What is my excuse, you ask? Well, I was down with Covid-19 – my symptoms weren’t as bad as a lot of other people but I lost my sense of smell and my ability to work (live?). Anyway, I am back now (even though the damned smell isn’t!) and this week I’m giving you some of my old favourites. People have comfort foods, comfort clothes, blankets, etc. – I have comfort books which I read whenever I feel low or sick. The only thing all these books have in common is that I read them for the first time as a child, and I’ve read them several times since then. Since I didn’t grow up in a big city, this collection is also emblematic of the limited nature of options available to me in the school library. I hope you too find some of your old favourites here. Stay at home, stay safe and read on!
